Hundreds of families gathered in Renfrew for a community Easter egg hunt that saw 745 eggs handed out during a busy afternoon in the town’s park.

The event, organised by Renfrew Community Council, brought together children, parents and local residents, with the play park packed throughout and families staying on after the hunt.

Renfrew Community Council vice-chair Jan Bunch said: “Some people talk as though our best days are behind us. We do not believe that for a second.

“Just look at the Easter Egg Hunt. It was a success far beyond what many of us expected, and it happened for one simple reason: people showed up for each other.

“It was brilliant to see the community come together, with children hunting for eggs, families spending time together, and families staying in the park afterwards while the kids played.”

She added: “And the children of this town were a credit to Renfrew. If the event showed us anything, it is that the next generation is coming through, and they are going to do this town proud.”

The community council thanked residents, volunteers and local supporters for helping make the event possible.

Thanks were also given to those who donated eggs and support, including local councillors, Alison Taylor MP, Natalie Don, Renfrewshire Toybank, Broadloan Community Gardens, Tesco Renfrew, MJ Driving School, AMR Motorcycles Ltd, John and Debbie Duffy at the Renfrew Juniors Social Club, Mr B Rutherford, Renfrew Juniors Football Club and M Reynolds.

Pupils from Kirklandneuk Primary School were also recognised for creating decorations used during the event.

Renfrew Community Council said it will continue to support community activities and bring residents together across the town.
