Johnstone Burgh have strengthened their squad ahead of the new Lowland League West season with the signings of forward Kristopher Kerr and midfielder Calvin McGrory, subject to Scottish FA approval.

Kerr joins the Keanie Park side after spells with Bonnyton Thistle and Hurlford United, bringing proven West of Scotland League experience to the Burgh attack.

Manager Paul Lovering believes the forward’s versatility and goalscoring record will add another dimension to his squad.

He said: “I’m delighted Kris has joined the club. Since being a young player coming through at Bonnyton Thistle I have followed his journey and in recent years he has been consistent with good numbers at the top end of the pitch where he is comfortable in any of the offensive positions.

“He’s a good age and his athleticism and ability to effect the opposition box is something I’m looking forward to him adding.”

The Burgh have also secured the signing of 26-year-old central midfielder Calvin McGrory.

McGrory came through the youth ranks at Queen’s Park and has previously played for Queen of the South and East Kilbride before most recently featuring for St Cadoc’s.

Lovering has been a long-time admirer of the midfielder and believes he will bring quality and composure to the team.

He said: “I’ve been a long-term admirer of Calvin since being a young lad breaking through at Queen’s Park. Marko (Mark Roberts) was his manager during that spell and as such both of us are excited to get the opportunity to work with Calvin and we are convinced he will prove to be a really good acquisition for the season ahead.

“He brings a real composure on the ball and ability to get about the pitch both in and out of possession.”

Both players become the latest additions to the Burgh squad as preparations continue for the club’s first campaign in the newly-formed Lowland League West.
