Thousands of people attended Barshaw Gala Day in Paisley on Saturday as Barshaw Park hosted a day of sport, entertainment and family activities.

The event formed part of Scotland’s Summer of Sport celebrations and featured free sports activities delivered by local clubs.

Visitors had the chance to try football, hockey, basketball, rugby, American football and volleyball throughout the day.

A funfair returned to the park, while inflatables, free drop-in arts and crafts workshops, and face-painting were also available.

Local musicians, dancers and walkabout performers entertained crowds during the event. Community stalls and food vendors were also on site.

A special guest joined the celebrations as Finnie, the Glasgow 2026 mascot, visited Barshaw Park. She met visitors, helped build excitement for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and took a ride on the Barshaw Miniature Railway.

Barshaw Gala Day was sponsored by TrustFord Glasgow.

The next major event in Renfrewshire is Sma’ Shot Day, which takes place on Saturday 4th July.
