A 53-year-old man is in hospital after a reported attempted murder in Paisley on Monday evening.

Police Scotland said officers were called to George Street at around 8pm on 13th July, 2026, following a report of a man having been seriously injured during a disturbance.

The man was taken to hospital, where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Detectives are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of the incident and officers remain in the area.

A number of roads remain closed, including George Street at Barr Place, Lady Lane at Argyle Street and Castle Street at Argyle Street. Local diversions are in place.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Small said: “It’s vital we trace the person responsible for this violent attack and I’m appealing for information from the public.

“Were you in the area at the time and saw what happened? Do you have CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage which has captured something of significance? If you have any information which could help, please get in touch.

“We have an increased presence in the area with officers carrying out CCTV and door to door enquiries. Anyone with concerns can speak to these officers.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 3208 of 13th July, 2026. Information can also be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
