A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an assault on Paisley High Street.
The incident happened at around 6.35pm on Sunday, 26th July 2026.
A man was injured and a 999 call was made by a passer-by.
An ambulance attended and the injured man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.
Four police units attended, with seven police officers at the scene.
Police set up a cordon covering part of the High Street, from the top of St Mirren Brae to Poundstretcher on the High Street, which has now reopened.
A bicycle, understood to have been connected to one of the men involved, was abandoned at the scene.
Police have now confirmed that a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. This confirms Renfrewshire News’ earlier reporting that a man was taken away from the scene by ambulance in handcuffs.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.35pm on Sunday, 26 July, 2026, officers received a report of an assault on High Street, Paisley.
“A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection and is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, 27 July, 2026.”
