A 20-year lease has been approved for a new 25-metre telecommunications mast at Barwood Road in Erskine.
Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board approved the lease on Wednesday 26th August.
Jet Infrastructure Limited has already secured planning permission for the lattice tower and its associated equipment.
The company is working with Virgin Media O2, which will be the primary network provider.
The mast will replace mobile equipment currently located at the Erskine Bridge Hotel, where the existing lease is due to expire.
The new structure is expected to improve 4G and 5G services in Erskine. It will also be capable of carrying equipment from several mobile network operators, reducing the need for additional masts in the area.
Jet Infrastructure will pay the council £1,750 a year for the ground lease.
The rent will be reviewed every five years in line with changes to the Retail Prices Index.
The lease must be completed within six months of the board’s decision or its terms will have to be renegotiated.
