An Erskine primary school has received three national awards for its work in digital learning.
St Anne’s Primary School received the Digital Schools Award, Digital Wellbeing Award and Equitable Creative Coding Award from Education Scotland.
Teaching staff support children to use digital technology across the curriculum. Pupils learn how to code, use robotics and stay safe online.
Digital technology is also used to help pupils develop critical-thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills.
One pupil said: “We use digital technology for all different things in our school, such as coding. I’ve learned how to use Google slides and docs. We did a full course on being safe online and not clicking on stuff you don’t know what it is.”
Another pupil added: “With digital, you can do so many things and sometimes it’s just fun things like Reading Eggs that can help make your reading and writing better.”
Headteacher Claire MacKenzie said: “We are incredibly proud to have achieved all three digital awards. These awards reflect the hard work, creativity and enthusiasm of our pupils and staff. Digital technology enhances learning across our school. It helps children develop the skills they need for learning and as part of daily life.”
Councillor Emma Rodden, Renfrewshire Council’s education convener, said: “This is a fantastic achievement for St Anne’s Primary School. Everyone involved should be so proud. Achieving three awards at once shows how committed staff are to supporting children. Digital technology opens up a world of learning for young people. It helps them develop confidence and the skills they need for learning.”
