A £50,000 funding application from Johnstone Burgh FC for an all-weather pitch has been recommended for deferral while council officers gather further information.

The application will be considered by Renfrewshire Council’s Communities and Housing Policy Board on Tuesday, 27th October 2026.

The club is seeking support from the council’s Sustainable Communities Fund for a project called “The Burgh Connection”.

The proposed work includes preparing the site, installing the synthetic pitch surface and providing the associated infrastructure needed to complete the facility.

The report states that the project is not dependent on any other major works being completed before construction can begin.

Officers recommend deferring the application to gather further information. The papers do not specify what additional information is required.

Two other funding applications are also recommended for deferral.

Erskine Arts is seeking £35,820 to upgrade sound equipment and enlarge the stage at Erskine Sports Centre. Officers recommend deferring the application to allow lease arrangements to progress.

Your Community, Your Space has applied for £86,975 for electrical improvements at Beechwood Community Centre in Shortroods, Paisley.

Officers recommend deferring that application while further information is gathered, including on potential alternative funding.

The Sustainable Communities Fund supports projects across Renfrewshire that improve community facilities and spaces.

The report says £197,837 remains available for future allocation before the recommendations being considered at the meeting.
