Construction has started on Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s final phase of 315 homes at Dargavel Village in Bishopton.

Representatives from the housebuilder and BAE Systems attended a sod-cutting ceremony to mark the start of work on the development off Arrochar Drive.

Renfrewshire Council approved the detailed plans in May, allowing this phase to proceed.

The development will include three, four and five-bedroom homes. There will be 257 properties from Taylor Wimpey’s new national range and 58 from its Caledonian Collection.

All homes will have air source heat pumps. The development will also include bird bricks, which provide nesting spaces, and hedgehog highways, which allow hedgehogs to move between gardens.

Plans include footpath links to the wider Dargavel Village development, with access to local amenities including the new 45-acre Central Park and Bishopton railway station.

David Blair, managing director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “Breaking ground on our final phase of new homes is a proud moment for everyone involved. Over the past 15 years, Taylor Wimpey West Scotland has played a key role in shaping Dargavel Village into a thriving, high-quality community. With planning approval now in place, and early preparatory works completed, we’re excited to begin full construction to deliver a well-connected, sustainable neighbourhood that enhances the local environment and supports long-term growth. Our partnership with BAE Systems has been central to the success of the masterplan, and today’s sod-cutting reflects the strength of that collaboration.”

Jon Gettinby, Project Management, Engineering, Quality & Bishopton Programme Director for BAE Systems, added: “Dargavel Village has been a transformational project for Bishopton, and we’re delighted to mark the start of construction on Taylor Wimpey West Scotland’s final parcel of homes. This milestone demonstrates the continued commitment of both organisations to delivering a community that offers high-quality housing, excellent connectivity and long-term environmental benefits. We look forward to seeing this final phase take shape and to completing the vision that has guided the development from the outset.”

The first homes in this phase are due to go on sale in late October or early November 2026.
