The new free summer activities programme for Renfrewshire children, young people and families is now available.
Summer of Fun free activities and events are organised by local community and voluntary groups and organisations, with £100,000 funding support from Renfrewshire Council’s Fairer Renfrewshire programme for summer activities for low-income families.
The programme pulls together the wide range of free fun that everyone across Renfrewshire can take part in during the school summer holidays.
Activities include sports, swimming, cheerleading, football, family fun days, trips, arts and craft, dance, drama, music and singing, silent disco, cooking, games and gaming, and much more.
The Summer of Fun programme also includes free activities put on by Street Stuff, OneRen Libraries, and the Council’s summer activity camps supported by the Community Learning and Development Team.
Libraries will have drop-in and play sessions, including arts and crafts, treasure hunts, and the Summer Reading Challenge. The Skoobmobile will be out and about in the community visiting Gallowhill, Houston, Howwood and Paisley. These activities are linked to from the Council’s website.
Tennis is free to play 9am to 4pm during weekdays and 9am to 1pm on weekends at Brodie Park, Johnstone and Robertson Park tennis courts.
All Council-funded activities are free and include snacks or meals depending on the length of the activity.
Councillor Jacqueline Cameron, depute council leader and chair of Renfrewshire Council’s Fairer Renfrewshire sub-committee, said: “The Summer of Fun programme is much-loved by Renfrewshire families, children and young people. I’m pleased to once again see it return, offering everyone the chance to have fun and memorable experiences during the school summer holidays.
“The programme is made possible through our amazing community groups and voluntary organisations across Renfrewshire whose free activities and events build on existing programmes from the Council, OneRen and other partners.
“I would encourage all families to check out what is on offer by visiting our website.”
