A man has been charged and is due to appear in court in connection with the rape of a 12-year-old girl in Johnstone on Sunday.
Officers confirmed that a 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged with serious sexual assault.
Detective Inspector David Hardie of Police Scotland released a statement on social media, he said: “We know this incident has caused concern in the local community and I would like to thank members of the public for their support during our enquiries.”
