The Paisley Pirates return to Braehead Arena this Sunday with renewed determination after a competitive two-game series against the Whitley Warriors that saw both sides pushed to their limits.

Saturday night at Braehead produced a thrilling 4–3 overtime defeat for the Pirates, with Magnus Wrottesley, Craig Peacock and Ryan Parkin finding the net. After battling back from 3–1 down and forcing a dramatic OT finish, the Pirates were edged out by a Warriors goal with just two seconds remaining. Parkin was named Man of the Match for his standout performance.

Head coach Ian Turley praised his team’s resilience.

He said: “The guys showed character getting back into the game. Losing it with two seconds left is very hard to swallow, but Whitley took their chance. We didn’t do quite enough to win it outright, but we battled to the end.”

Turley also highlighted improvements in structure and chemistry as the season progresses.

He added: “We’re not fully cohesive yet, but we’re moving in the right direction. With new players joining mid-season we’ve had to adapt quickly, but the last few games show real progress.”

On Sunday, the teams met again in Whitley Bay for the opening leg of the Scottish Cup quarter-final, where the Warriors secured a 4–1 win. Garry Simpson scored for Paisley and Craig Peacock earned Man of the Match honours. Despite the deficit, the Pirates remain confident heading into the second leg.

Turley said: “Their goalie was outstanding across both nights. We generated chances but couldn’t convert. The tie isn’t over — we’ve got work to do, but we’ll be ready at home.”

The Pirates now shift their focus to Sunday 7th December when they host the Dundee Rockets at Braehead Arena. Due to extended seasonal public skating hours, face-off will take place at the later time of 6.30pm.
