West College Scotland and NHS Golden Jubilee have signed a new strategic partnership aimed at strengthening skills, education and innovation across West Dunbartonshire and the wider region.
The agreement brings together two major anchor organisations with a shared focus on expanding opportunity for local people, improving access to education and training, and building a stronger pipeline of skills to support a more inclusive regional economy.
Under the partnership, both organisations have committed to joint action to create new and more accessible routes into employment, particularly across health, care, digital and support services. Flexible training and tailored support will be developed for people returning to the workforce, alongside clearer pathways for young people to build confidence, gain qualifications and move into real jobs.
The agreement also places a strong emphasis on supporting health and social care staff. NHS Golden Jubilee and other local NHS employees will benefit from upskilling and reskilling opportunities through joint training, professional development and shared learning initiatives. New learning models will be introduced to help staff adapt to emerging technologies and evolving ways of working, ensuring the workforce remains resilient and future-ready.
Wider benefits are expected for the local community and employers, with closer alignment between education provision and regional skills needs. The partnership aims to support community wealth-building, sustainable job creation and local economic growth, while shared facilities and resources will widen community access to training and support services.
Anne Campbell, Principal and Chief Executive of West College Scotland, said partnering with NHS Golden Jubilee would help expand high-quality learning opportunities and create clear, supported routes into rewarding careers.
She said: “This agreement strengthens our ability to help young people take their first steps, support adults returning to work, and equip local residents with the skills our region needs. By working together, we can maximise opportunity, drive innovation in learning, and contribute to a stronger, more inclusive economy across West Dunbartonshire and beyond.”
Carolynne O’Connor, Chief Executive of NHS Golden Jubilee, said the partnership marked a major step in shaping the future workforce and supporting the growth of health and care careers across the region.
She added: “By combining our strengths with West College Scotland, we can build new pathways into the NHS, nurture talent, and ensure people of all ages have opportunities to learn, develop and progress. Together, we are investing in local employment, supporting community wellbeing, and helping West Dunbartonshire thrive through sustainable, long-term skills development.”
