Staff from Specsavers Johnstone have raised more than £650 for a local charity after taking part in an abseil from the Falkirk Wheel alongside participants from Active Communities.

Store director Glenn Dickson and store manager Euan O’Neill were among those who completed the challenge on Saturday 22nd March, joining others from Active Communities in the descent to support the charity’s work across Renfrewshire.

Active Communities provides health and wellbeing support through community programmes and an inclusive space in Johnstone, helping people build connections and improve their wellbeing.

The abseil forms part of the store’s wider fundraising efforts, with the team also raising a further £225 this year by donating £1 from every completed customer service survey.

Glenn Dickson, store director at Specsavers Johnstone, said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has kindly donated to our charity fundraising so far. Abseiling was pretty nerve-racking, but also a hugely rewarding experience once we had our feet back on the ground.

“The work that Active Communities carries out is so vital to the local area, so we’re proud to be able to lend a helping hand through our ongoing fundraising. If you visit our store, please complete a survey to help us add to our fundraising total.”

A JustGiving page remains open for anyone wishing to contribute, with all funds going towards supporting community projects in Johnstone and across Renfrewshire. To donate, visit: https://www.justgiving.com/page/specsavers-johnstone-1.
