A major new Sky television drama has begun filming in Paisley, with Scottish actor James McAvoy among the stars spotted shooting scenes at the town’s iconic Coats Church.
The six-part series, titled Meantime, is being produced by Meantime Productions Limited and is filming across a number of Paisley locations, including Coats Church, the University of the West of Scotland campus and Church Hill.
Residents living near the filming locations were notified in advance after production crews confirmed filming would take place throughout June.

Production vehicles, equipment trucks and crew members were also seen around the church grounds as filming got underway.
Earlier notices issued to residents revealed that some scenes at Coats Church would involve up to 80 crew members and around 100 background artists.
The production company said filming at the church would include both interior and exterior scenes across several dates, with overnight filming scheduled on Monday 1 June between approximately 8pm and 2am.
Lighting rigs and cherry picker platforms were used to illuminate the front of the church for night-time scenes, while temporary parking restrictions and road closures were put in place around High Street and Wellmeadow Street.
Although access for pedestrians was maintained, residents were advised they could be asked to wait briefly while filming was taking place.
Maps circulated by the production company appeared to show Coats Church being transformed into a castle setting for the drama.
The series is expected to continue filming in Paisley throughout June before moving on to other locations.
