Residents in Renfrewshire are being urged to check for TV interference as mobile network upgrades are rolled out in the area.
The improvements are designed to boost the speed, performance and coverage of mobile services. However, there is a small chance they could affect free-to-view television services received through an aerial, including Freeview, BT TV, TalkTalk TV and YouView.
People experiencing problems may notice intermittent sound, blocky or pixelated pictures, or a complete loss of TV signal.
Free support is available through Restore TV, an independent programme run by Mova, which helps viewers whose television reception is affected by mobile signal upgrades.
Ben Roome, chief executive of Restore TV, said: “Free to view TV matters to millions of people across the UK. Restore TV is here to make sure you can keep watching as mobile networks are improved.
“If you notice new interference, we can help fix it quickly and at no cost.”
Cable and satellite television services such as Sky and Virgin Media are not affected, although households that also watch free-to-view channels through an aerial may still be eligible for a free Restore TV filter.
According to Restore TV, households are more likely to be affected if they live in an area with weak digital TV reception, use a signal booster or have an aerial located close to a mobile phone mast. Support is also available for landlords and property managers of communal buildings.
Additional support is available for people aged 75 and over, those who are registered blind or partially sighted, and those receiving certain disability-related benefits.
Anyone experiencing new interference can contact Restore TV on 0808 13 13 800 or visit RestoreTV.uk for advice and assistance.
