A contract worth almost £300,000 has been approved to demolish a number of properties in Paisley as part of wider regeneration plans for the Howard Street area.
Renfrewshire councillors agreed to award a demolition contract to Dem-Master Demolition Limited at a meeting of the Finance, Resources and Customer Services Policy Board on Thursday, 11th June.
The approved contract has a value of £294,080 excluding VAT and will be funded through the council’s Housing Revenue Account Capital Programme budget.
Work is scheduled to begin on 6th July 2026 and be completed by 18th December 2026.
The project will see the demolition and site clearance of properties at 9 Ladyburn Street, 8-10 Howard Street, 12 Howard Street and 35-37 and 41-43 McKerrell Street.
Seven companies submitted bids for the work, with Dem-Master Demolition Limited achieving the highest overall score during the procurement process and being identified as the most economically advantageous tender.
Council documents state that the demolition will support future plans for the site, with the cleared land to be developed in conjunction with local residents as part of the neighbourhood renewal process for the Howard Street area.
The report also highlights that the wider regeneration programme aims to ensure there is a supply of high-quality, affordable homes in the right locations to meet current and future demand.
As part of the contract, the successful contractor has also committed to providing financial support for two social enterprises or community initiatives.
The contract was approved by councillors without debate.
