A man has been charged with a number of road traffic offences after police stopped an electric motorbike in Renfrew.

Officers from Renfrewshire Priority Policing Team were on patrol in Aranthrue Crescent on Monday 15th June 2026 when they spotted a man riding an electric Sur-Ron bike.

Police said the rider was subsequently charged with a number of offences under the Road Traffic Act, including having no insurance and no valid driving licence.

The bike, which had no registration plates, was seized by officers.

Police Scotland is reminding the public that electric bikes of this type and e-scooters cannot legally be used on public roads, pavements or other public places.
