A popular Paisley watering hole has raised £890 for Beatson Cancer Charity after a successful fundraising campaign held around Scotland’s World Cup opener against Haiti.
The Club Bar on Moss Street brought together customers and staff to support the charity through football ticket sales, donations, bingo and a Last Man Standing competition during the tournament.
The total included £250 from football ticket money, £160 in donations, £168 from bingo donations and £212 from the Last Man Standing competition, raising £890 overall for the charity.
Although the fundraising campaign has now ended, The Club Bar will still be showing Scotland’s World Cup clash with Morocco tonight, with bingo from 7.15pm followed by karaoke until 10.30pm ahead of the 11pm kick-off.
Jamie from The Club Bar thanked everyone who played their part in the fundraiser.
He said: “First and foremost I would like to say how proud I am of our wee pub. From the staff to the customers, you lot are absolutely amazing. The money raised year in and year out for charity is absolutely amazing and you lot didn’t disappoint this time.
“Special thank you to Charlie ‘Chelvis’. You go above and beyond every time and it’s certainly appreciated.
“Truly is the people that make the pub and we have the absolute best. Once again thank you to everyone that’s donated, it really does mean a lot.”
