A woman has been released from hospital after a car was deliberately driven at her in what police are treating as an attempted murder in Linwood.

The incident happened at around 3.45pm on Tuesday, 30th June, on Clippens Road.

Earlier on Tuesday, Police Scotland said a woman had been struck by a car which then drove off. Video seen by Renfrewshire News shows five people near a bus stop. Two women are standing a short distance from the bus stop sign when a white Vauxhall Corsa appears to move towards them.

The footage appears to show the car striking one of the women. However, it is unclear from the video whether she was hit directly or managed to leap out of the way at the last moment.

The clip ends shortly afterwards, and it is not possible to confirm what happened next from the footage alone.

Police have now confirmed they are treating the incident as attempted murder.

The 49-year-old woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Detective Sergeant Kenny Taggart, of Paisley CID, said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances and trace the car involved. I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn’t already spoken to officers to come forward.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 2054 of 30 June, 2026.
