A new £1million active play area at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley is set to open to the public in October.

The Lagoon Adventure Zone is being delivered by Renfrewshire Council and OneRen.

It will include an interactive TAG active arena, where players use wristband sensors to score points by finding lights around a climbing maze.

The area will also include tunnels, crawl spaces, a cargo climb maze and climbing frames.

There will be a baby and toddler area with interactive toys, slides, ramps, balance boxes and other equipment. A free-play area will include chutes, slides and climbing frames.

The active play area will have a dedicated sensory space for people with additional needs.

A seating area will allow parents and carers to view the play zones while using a café, which will be catered by local supplier Brew & Bite.

Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes, Chair of OneRen, said: “It’s wonderful to see the work has been progressing and is now complete on the new active play space at the Lagoon.

“We know how important it is for access to facilities such as this high-quality play space, to be local to families. The inclusion of the sensory space, baby and toddler area and cafe make this an inclusive indoor playground for all while providing opportunities for adults to socialise.

“I look forward to seeing the space opening next month and for children, families and groups from Renfrewshire and beyond start using this excellent new facility.”

Final work is taking place before specialist product, safety and RoSPA training is carried out ahead of the opening.

Testing and soft-launch activity with key stakeholders will take place before the official public opening.

Councillors have also agreed to allocate £2million for upgrades to OneRen sports and leisure venues as part of Renfrewshire Council’s 2026/27 budget.
