Paisley Police are investigating an attempted murder after a man was found with serious injuries in a flat in Paisley.

Emergency services were called to a flat in Auchentorlie Quadrant, Paisley around 7.50am on Monday 9th January 2017 where a 48-year-old man was found within with serious injuries.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley initially but was later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he is currently being treated for a serious head injury. Hospital staff describe his condition as critical.

Detective Inspector Tom Carty at Paisley CID said: “We are currently treating this incident as attempted murder as the injuries sustained are very serious and consistent of an assault having taken place.

“Our enquiries so far have revealed that there was some sort of disturbance within the flat either on Sunday or during the night into Monday morning therefore I am keen to speak to anyone who has heard a disturbance or seen people coming or going in Auchentorlie Quadrant between 0730 hrs on Sunday 8 January to 0800 hrs on Monday 9 January to contact police immediately.”
