I wanted to send you some information on the 13-year-old treble singer Stephen Chalk in case you were keen to write a feature on a unique, rising young Paisley talent. I manage and mentor Stephen and would be delighted answer any questions.
Stephen lives in Greenock Road, Paisley and has been singing since he was 6-years-old. He has been a loyal and valued chorister of the Paisley Abbey Choir for over 6 years (yes he started at just six years old!) but in recent months has recorded his own album and is a featured soloist in a Scottish Fantasy feature film which is due to release in the UK on July 10 and is being sold internationally.
The Album
Stephen is just about to release his first album ‘Peace Be With You’ in the classical-crossover genre. It features well known classical and light popular songs, selected and performed to ‘instil in the listener a transcendent sense of peace’. Stephen is one of a very limited number of boys in Scotland who are are competent in this striking style of music and he is very aware that it makes him stand out. He has to risk being made to feel ‘uncool’ or even ridiculed by his peers but he loves singing far too much to give it up.

The Movie
In Summer 2016 Stephen was approached by Fellowship Film to add treble vocals to the score of a fantasy feature film set in Scotland, 800AD. The Gaelic King features two soloists throughout, a female Gaelic singer (Kerrie Findlay) and a boy soprano (Stephen Chalk). These vocals are deeply symbolic within the film and enter at crucial points in the plot. In the final credit song ‘Hope is Coming’ Stephen and Kerrie sing a duet together representing the final resolution in the film.
The Gaelic King is has been twice to the Cannes film market and has been sold to territories all over the world including UK, USA, Japan, Italy and the Middle-East. The UK release is set for July 10 and the DVD can be pre-ordered on Amazon:
