Police Scotland have arrested two males who were in possession of a number of weapons in Paisley last night.

The first was a 14-year-old teenager was found in possession of a meat cleaver. He was charged and will be reported to the Children’s Reporter.

The second arrest was an 18-year-old who was found with two knives. He was held in custody and was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court at some point today.

Police Scotland said: “Getting caught with a knife in a public place could result in a prison sentence of up to 5 years.

“No Knives, Better Lives is a national programme aiming to deter young people from carrying knives.”
