Police Scotland have confirmed they are no longer treating the death of a man found in Johnstone Centre at the weekend as suspicious.

The body of a man was discovered at around 2.55am on Saturday morning at Houstoun Square and remained closed until lunch time.

Officers have confirmed a postmortem examination will be carried out on the 58-year-old male in due course and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Around 2.55am on Saturday, 13 May, 2023, police received a report of a 58-year-old man’s body being found in Houston Square, Johnstone.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death however police are not treating the death as suspicious at this time.

“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
