The body of a man has been found in Johnstone’s Houston Square.

Police Scotland has launched an investigation and is currently treating the death of a 58-year-old male as unexplained.

The man’s body was discovered at around 2.55am this morning.

Part of Houston Square in Johnstone Centre has been taped off by officers.

Four officers are currently guarding a small tent that has been erected close to the lone soldier statue.

Two officers have been posted next to the square’s entrance near an Iceland store and another two officers at a tapped cordon close to the main pathway.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Around 2.55am on Saturday, 13th May, 2023, police received a report of a 58-year-old man’s body being found in Houston Square, Johnston. Officers are in attendance and the death is being treated as unexplained. Enquiries are ongoing.
