Two Ferguslie Park councillors have welcomed the news that a contractor is expected to be approved for Ferguslie Sports Centre refurbishment.

Finance, Resources and Customer Services Policy Board is set to award the contract to City Gate Construction (Scotland) Limited at its meeting on Thursday which will comprise major structural alterations to the changing room area along with roof repairs, boiler plant replacement and partial rewire works.

The board is being asked to approve a tendered total of £573,984.47 excluding VAT and an additional 10% contingency for any unforeseen works.

The proposed dates for the start of this work would be 30th October, with the works hopefully completed by 21st April 2024.

Councillor Kenny MacLaren said: “It’s great news that this work is now planned to take place. This work will help to upgrade Ferguslie Sports Centre and provide it with a long term future”.

Councillor Mags MacLaren said: “It’s good news for Ferguslie Sports Centre and for everyone who uses this venue. It’s important to keep improving the condition of venues like Ferguslie Sports Centre so that it has a longer term future”.
