A bookstore in Paisley has bought a number of children’s language books aimed at helping young children learn English.

The books cover a range of European languages including Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian.

Brian Hannah of Abbey Books had initially contacted Councillor Kenny MacLaren to see if he knew someone who could make use of these books for free.

Cllr MacLaren contacted Mhairi Black MP’s office, where her Communications Manager, Councillor Robert Innes said he would be happy to help distribute the books to anyone who could make use of them.

Councillor Robert Innes told Renfrewshire News: “This is an amazing donation from Abbey Books.

“These books – in a range of languages including Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian – are ideal for younger children trying to learn English.

“I am aware of some constituents who would appreciate these books but I’m also looking for any groups or individuals who feel that they could make use of these free books.

“I would like to thank Abbey Books for this amazing donation, giving these books out free to those who could use them highlights the strong community spirit of Brian and Abbey Books.”

If you would be able to use one of the free books, please contact Robert at Mhairi Black MP’s office on 0141 571 4370 or email robert.innes@parliament.uk.

Abbey Books can be found at 1 Wellmeadow Street, Paisley.
