Renfrew’s Robertson Park was a hub of festive activity on Saturday as the Christmas lights in the town were switched on.

There was fun for all the family with a Christmas market, Christmas arts and crafts, and funfair rides for the thrill seekers willing to brave the cold.

Santa took a break from his busy schedule to visit the children of Renfrew and hear what they have on their Christmas lists this year.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without carols and Renfrew Burgh Band delighted audiences with all the favourites during their annual carol concert, held in the McMaster Centre.

At 5pm Renfrewshire’s Depute Provost Cathy McEwan was joined by competition winner, Joyce from St James Primary School, to switch on the town’s Christmas lights for the festive season.

She said: “It was great to see so many people out in Robertson Park this weekend to celebrate the start of the festive season.

“I was delighted to have Joyce to help me switch on the lights this year and I hope she had a great day in the park with her family.”

Christmas in Renfrewshire is only just beginning with Johnstone’s Christmas Lights Switch On due to take place on Saturday 2th December, and a month-long Christmas celebration running in Paisley from Thursday 30th November.
