Ice hockey fans can become secret Santas at the next Clan home game tonight.

The professional ice hockey outfit is organising a Christmas toy collection for the Renfrewshire Toy Bank, at the game in Braehead Arena against Belfast Giants.

They are supporting the charity which aims to make sure disadvantaged children and teenagers don’t miss out on gifts this Christmas.

The toy bank is desperately in need of new toys for children of all ages, including babies and toddlers, along with gifts for teenagers, selection boxes, board games, books, arts and crafts activities and even sets of new pyjamas.

And Renfrewshire Toy Bank founder, Lauren Roy-Sutherland revealed that this year there is a particular shortage of toys for girls, babies and teenagers.

The Clan will set up a collection point for new toy donations outside the entrance to the Braehead Ice Centre, next to Costa Coffee in the lower mall, between 5pm and 7pm when the game starts and at the Clan Official Supporters Club table in the Arena Foyer, between match periods.

Downloads and streams of The Clan’s charity Christmas single, called Clantastic Christmas is also raising money for the Renfrewshire Toybank.

Lauren says that the charity can’t thank Glasgow Clan enough for their support.

“We appreciate there’s a cost of living crisis, but if Clan fans can donate whatever toys or gifts they can we’d be very grateful. Everyone who donates will be like a secret Santa to a child or a young person.”

Gareth Chalmers, Managing Director of the Glasgow Clan said: “The Purple Army are well-known for their generosity and I’m sure there will be lots of donations for a very worthwhile charity.

“The toys and gifts will go directly to children and young people this Christmas. Times are difficult for so many, so we’re doing our little part to spread more festive cheer for young ones and their families.”
