A festive competition run by Renfrew Community Council has been hailed a success after bringing colour, warmth and community spirit to streets across the town.
This year’s winner, Jemma Mack, was praised for a Christmas display that stood out for its creativity, effort and the joy it brought to neighbours and passers-by. Judges said it perfectly captured the aim of the competition by lifting the local area and encouraging positive community pride.
Vice-chair of Renfrew Community Council, Jan Bunch, said the standard of entries was particularly high this year.
She said the competition was about giving people a reason to come together and do something positive, adding that Jemma’s display genuinely brightened the street and showed what can happen when residents take pride in their community.
After receiving the prize, Jemma chose to donate the full amount to Renfrewshire Food Bank, a gesture the Community Council said reflected the values behind the competition.
Secretary Jane Williamson said while the display itself was fantastic, the decision to donate the prize highlighted the way people in Renfrew look out for one another, especially at a time of year when many families continue to feel financial pressure.
Chair Callum Reid said the competition showed that community is about more than events, describing it as being rooted in connection, care and shared effort.
He added that moments like this demonstrate how local action can provide real support and hope, particularly during difficult times.
Renfrew Community Council thanked everyone who took part in the competition and encouraged residents to continue supporting one another and local community efforts throughout 2026 and beyond.
