The A737 is closed in both directions between Johnstone and Howwood following a road traffic incident.
Traffic Scotland confirmed the closure at around 3:15pm and is advising drivers to use alternative routes.
Motorists are being warned to expect longer than usual journey times in the area while the road remains shut.
No further details have been released about the incident at this stage.
