A Paisley-based children’s care charity has been recognised across the UK for the way it supports young people.

Kibble has been awarded the National Nurturing Schools Award. The award recognises its work to build a safe, supportive environment for children and young people who have experienced trauma.

The recognition comes after an inspection of its on-site schools. Assessors said the settings “may be small in size, but are huge on impact”.

The award is given by nurtureuk through the National Nurturing Schools Programme. It looks at how organisations support young people across three areas – people, delivery and leadership.

Kibble met all 37 standards required. These include how staff build relationships, how young people are supported emotionally, and how they are prepared for life beyond school.

The charity said the approach is built around understanding behaviour, creating safe spaces and helping young people feel secure.

Jackie Blair, Head of Education at Kibble, said: “It is a huge privilege to receive this recognition. Over the past three years, we have worked together to make sure nurturing approaches are part of who we are as an organisation.

“This award reflects the dedication of our staff and the progress of the young people we support.”

The report also highlighted the environment across the campus. It said spaces are designed so children feel safe, valued and at home.

Kibble supports young people aged five to 26 who have experienced trauma and adversity. Its services include education, residential care and community support.
