Kibble has been awarded national autism accreditation for two of its residential children’s houses.
Ness and Tay, based at Kibble’s primary-years campus in Lochwinnoch, have received Autism Accreditation from the National Autistic Society.
The children’s houses support youngsters with additional support needs in nurturing and trauma-informed environments.
The accreditation recognises the quality of care, communication approaches and tailored support provided by staff to help children feel understood, safe and able to thrive.
Kibble said the award marks a significant step in its wider programme to embed autism-informed practice across the organisation.
Further service areas, including education, intensive support and secure care, are now working through the National Autistic Society accreditation programme, with completion targeted by summer 2026.
During the assessment, Ness and Tay were praised for their person-centred culture, nurturing relationships and effective communication approaches.
Staff use a range of tools to support children, including visual communication methods, social stories, sign-based communication, Makaton and digital systems.
The houses also provide calming and sensory-rich spaces, including tactile indoor areas and outdoor forest settings.
Dan Johnson, Executive Director and Forensic Psychologist at Kibble, said: “This accreditation for Ness and Tay is an important step forward in our wider journey to embed autism-responsive and trauma-informed care across Kibble.
“We know the importance of early intervention and creating environments where children and young people feel valued, listened to and supported. Achieving this recognition reflects the dedication of our teams and the strength of our approach.
“As we continue towards wider accreditation in the coming months, we hope to play a leading role in demonstrating what high-quality, inclusive support looks like in practice.”
