A Johnstone restaurant will donate all its sales on Monday 14th September to the Nepal Relief Fund to support people affected by floods.
Dé Buddha Authentic Nepalese Restaurant & Bar, at 12 Collier Street, said 100% of sales from lunch and dinner will go to the fund. Staff will also accept cash donations from people who cannot stay for a meal.
The floods began on 26th August after a glacier collapsed near the Nepal-China border, sending water and debris through communities in northern Nepal. At least 1,386 people have died and more than 5,100 remain missing, while homes, roads, bridges and power facilities have been destroyed.
The restaurant said: “Nepal is our home, our heritage and the heart behind so much of what we do at De Buddha.
“That’s why this Monday 14th September, we’re donating 100% of all our sales to the Nepal Relief Fund.”
It has asked people to visit or share news of the fundraiser, saying a busier restaurant would allow it to donate more.
