A popular estate and lettings agency is celebrating 50 years.

Slater Hogg and Howison, founded by Scottish businessman Roy Slater in 1975 with Iain Hogg and Geoff Howison, opened their first branch in Clarkston, and expanded to 7 branches by opening six more in Shawlands, Bearsden, West End, Paisley, Ayr, and Hamilton.

Today, as part of the Connells Group family, Slater Hogg & Howison has grown to over 25 branches, making it Scotland’s largest estate and lettings agency.

To mark 50 years in business, Slater Hogg & Howison is raising money for CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) and has already raised over £1,800 across all branches.

Over these 50 years, the agency has helped local homeowners through big events like the Barber Boom crisis in the early 70s, a rise in house prices in the 80s, a period of price growth in the mid 90s, and the 2008 credit crunch.

Now, Slater Hogg & Howison offers a full range of services from sales, lettings, mortgage advice, and new homes to extra support and guidance that helps home movers, landlords, and tenants navigate the property market.

Scott McDonald, Divisional Managing Director Scotland at Connells Group, said: “From its creation half a century ago, to seeing the business become the largest estate and letting agency in Scotland, with 200 employees, it really is great to recognise how much our business has achieved.

“We wouldn’t be reaching this milestone without our colleagues, who pride themselves on their lasting customer relationships, promising to support them and their families throughout their homeownership journeys and beyond.”

“Our customers are at the heart of what we do, and we are excited to celebrate this incredible milestone with our community, as it is their loyalty that has kept us busy for 50 years.”
