A Paisley-based music charity is launching a new three-day traditional music weekend in May as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations.
Fèis Phàislig has unveiled plans for the event, which will run from Friday 8th May to Sunday 10th May 2026, featuring concerts, workshops and informal music sessions open to all ages.
Award-winning Gaelic vocal trio Sian will headline the weekend, with a major Saturday night concert planned at Paisley Arts Centre.
For the first time, the organisation will also open up its music tuition workshops to adults, alongside young people, in what it describes as a new intergenerational approach to learning traditional music and Gaelic song.
The weekend programme will include live performances, educational workshops covering instruments and singing, and informal sessions where attendees can take part. A family-friendly cèilidh will take place on the Friday evening at Re:Hope Church, giving people the chance to perform a tune, song or story.
Workshops will be free to attend, while concert and cèilidh tickets will operate on a “pay what you can” basis to make the event accessible to as many people as possible.
The event forms part of a wider programme marking a decade of Fèis Phàislig, which was founded in 2015 and has grown from a single summer event into one of Scotland’s largest fèisean. The charity now delivers year-round activity including weekly music lessons, a youth Gaelic choir and outreach projects, with more than 15,000 people taking part in its programmes each year.
Grant McFarlane, director of Fèis Phàislig, said: “Education in music is at the heart of Scotland’s cultural life, where new talent is nurtured and where people can experience the joy of music.
“The May Fèis Weekend will place traditional music, Gaelic song and culture at the heart of the community and marks another milestone as we celebrate ten years of cultural activity in Paisley.
“For the first time, people of all ages will be able to take part together. Whether you’re 85 or five years old, there will be a place for you.”
Members of Sian also welcomed the opportunity to be part of the celebrations, highlighting the importance of organisations like Fèis Phàislig in supporting young people into traditional music.
The weekend will take place at Paisley Arts Centre and Re:Hope Church, with additional informal sessions held in partnership with Blend Coffee Lounge.
