A young boy was rescued from a pond in Barshaw Park after going missing on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened at the park on Glasgow Road, Paisley, at around 5pm on Sunday, 26 April, 2026.
A member of the public entered the water and pulled the child to safety before leaving him with his partner and running to alert a police officer who was already in the park near the children’s play area.
A witness described seeing a woman in the park in a state of panic as the situation unfolded.
She said the woman had her arms in the air and appeared frantic as she searched for her missing child.
As the police officer made their way to deal with the incident, the woman approached and it became clear she was connected to the child.
Emergency services attended and the boy was taken to hospital as a precaution.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Sunday, 26 April, 2026, we received a report of a child in the water at a park on Glasgow Road, Paisley.
“The child was rescued from the water by a member of the public and taken to hospital as a precaution.”
