Motorpoint has submitted plans for a major new car supermarket in Paisley featuring more than 300 vehicle display spaces, a showroom and workshop complex beside Showcase Cinema.
The proposal would see the development built on land at the southern edge of the roundabout linking Griffin Avenue and Pegasus Avenue at Phoenix Business Park.
Planning documents lodged with Renfrewshire Council show the development would include 336 outdoor vehicle sales spaces, 51 customer parking spaces, 24 collection bays and 84 workshop and staff parking spaces.
The application also includes plans for a sales showroom, workshop building, vehicle display hardstanding, customer parking and associated access roads.
Documents prepared by Pier Architects describe the proposal as a “Motorpoint car showroom” project intended to modernise and expand the company’s Paisley operations.
The design statement says the development aims to create a “refreshed, modernised, and customer-focused environment” in line with Motorpoint’s national branding and operational standards.
Plans for the sales building include a customer reception area, sales desks, waiting areas and office space. The workshop building would contain MOT facilities, vehicle preparation bays, a bodyshop, wash areas and staff welfare facilities.
The site sits within Phoenix Business Park and is surrounded mainly by commercial and automotive businesses, including existing car dealerships, retail units and leisure facilities. Planning documents state the development has been designed to fit within the “commercial character” of the area.
The proposal is a revised version of a previously approved development first granted planning permission in 2019 and again in 2020. The updated application includes a smaller sales building footprint, revised parking layouts and updated drainage measures designed to meet current climate change standards.
The planning application was received and validated by Renfrewshire Council on Monday 13th April 2026 and is currently awaiting a decision.
