Johnstone Burgh have appointed Stevie Farrell as the club’s new permanent manager ahead of their first season in the new Lowland League West.

Burgh announced the appointment on Monday afternoon.

The former defender and midfielder brings more than 350 games of management experience to Keanie Park.

Farrell previously managed both Stranraer and Dumbarton and also served as assistant manager at Dumbarton before taking the top job there.

As a player, he had spells with Stoke City, St Mirren and Stranraer before moving into coaching. He holds a UEFA A Licence.

A Johnstone Burgh spokesperson said: “Johnstone Burgh FC are delighted to announce the appointment of Stevie Farrell as the club’s new permanent manager.

“Stevie is a highly experienced and respected manager who has operated most of his career in the SPFL, having been both manager and assistant at Dumbarton FC and Stranraer FC, managing over 350 games.

“As a player, he had professional spells with Stoke City FC, St. Mirren FC, and Stranraer FC before moving into coaching where he has gained his UEFA A Licence.

“Stevie will get to work straight away to prepare the squad for their first season in the new Lowland League West.

“Stevie has yet to confirm his back room team however this will be communicated in the days ahead.

“The club would like to place on record their thanks and gratitude to the interim management team of Graeme Ramage and Kieran Gibbons for taking over first team duties until this appointment.”

Farrell takes charge after Burgh secured promotion this season to the new Lowland League West setup for the 2026/27 campaign.
