Pupils from Bridge of Weir Primary School are preparing to take centre stage in Edinburgh this weekend after qualifying for the Scottish Primary School Glee Challenge National Final.

The school’s choir, Take a Bow, will represent the West of Scotland at the national celebration on Sunday 14th June at the Usher Hall, joining hundreds of young performers from across the country.

The choir secured its place at the event after winning through the regional stages of the competition, earning the title of regional champions and booking a place in the national showcase.

The Scottish Primary School Glee Challenge is one of Scotland’s largest celebrations of primary school music and performance, encouraging confidence, creativity, teamwork and a love of music among young people.

The National Final brings together schools from across Scotland, with choirs representing regions including the Highlands, Fife, Tayside, Central Scotland and the South East.

Organisers said the event is about more than performance, giving children the chance to meet pupils from different communities, build friendships and celebrate the hard work that has brought them to the final.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Primary School Glee Challenge said: “We are incredibly proud of the choirs and everything they have achieved. The Challenge provides a wonderful opportunity to develop confidence, work together, and experience the joy of performing.

“Reaching the National Final is a fantastic occasion for the children, their families, and the wider school communities, and we are looking forward to a wonderful day of celebration.”

The event will also feature a special performance from Scottish Young Live Artist of the Year Ben Walker, while Harbingers Drum Crew will provide additional entertainment throughout the day.

For many of the pupils involved, the event will be their first opportunity to perform on a major national stage.

Bridge of Weir Primary School will be joined at the final by schools from across Scotland including Dalneigh Primary School, Duloch Primary School, Kellands Primary School, Maddiston Primary School, Ratho Primary School, Rosebank Primary School, St Clements RC Primary School and The Royal High School.
