Employees from Scottish Friendly have volunteered their time to help improve an Action for Children service in Kilbarchan that supports children with additional needs and their families.
Teams from the Glasgow-based financial mutual spent two volunteering days at the charity’s Loom Walk short breaks service, carrying out a range of improvement works around the centre.
Volunteers worked alongside staff at the service to decorate rooms, tidy communal areas and improve outdoor spaces, helping to create a brighter and more welcoming environment for children and young people who use the facility.
Loom Walk provides short breaks for children with additional needs while also offering valuable respite for parents, carers and families. The charity says the improvements will help maintain a high-quality experience for those who rely on the service.
Scottish Friendly colleague Louise Bird said: “Spending time at Loom Walk really highlighted the importance of services like this. It was great to work together and know that what we were doing would have a direct and lasting impact.”
Lorraine Begbie, Residential Support Worker with Action for Children Renfrewshire Short Breaks Service, thanked the volunteers for their efforts.
She said: “A huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers from Scottish Friendly who gave their time and energy to help paint rooms and the garden area for our children that come to stay at Loom Walk.
“Your kindness, hard work and generosity have helped create brighter, more welcoming spaces where our children can learn, grow, and thrive. We are truly grateful for your support.”
Action for Children supports children, young people and families across the UK through services focused on wellbeing, mental health and resilience.
