People across Renfrewshire are being encouraged to help shape the next phase of improvements to council-owned play parks by taking part in a public consultation.
Renfrewshire Council is asking residents to give their views on new play equipment planned for eight play parks across the area as part of its investment programme.
The parks included in the consultation are:
- Fountain Gardens, Paisley – renewal
- Darkwood Crescent, Paisley – renewal
- Ferguslie Gardens (Top Play Area), Paisley – renewal
- Green Road (Morar Drive – Toddler), Paisley – renewal
- Elderslie West (Old Road), Elderslie – renewal
- Thomas Shanks Park, Johnstone – refurbishment
- Lyle Crescent, Bishopton – renewal
- Millfield Meadows, Erskine – renewal
The council said the work forms part of its £2.1 million play park investment programme, which aims to ensure every council-owned play park in Renfrewshire has been renewed or refurbished by 2029. Since 2021, more than £5 million has been invested in more than 50 play parks and wheeled sports facilities across the area, funded by the council, the Scottish Government and a small amount of community fundraising.
Residents can view the proposed designs for each site and choose their preferred option through an online survey.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren and Councillor Mags MacLaren, who represent Paisley Northwest for the SNP, welcomed the consultation, which includes the proposed renewal of the play park at Ferguslie Gardens.
Councillor Kenny MacLaren said: “These enhancements form part of Renfrewshire Council’s £2.1 million play park investment programme. This additional funding aims to ensure that by 2029, all council-owned play parks in Renfrewshire will have been renewed or refurbished.
“This is a great initiative, to let those who will be using the play areas, as well as parents, help to choose which play equipment should be installed in each of the play park areas.”
Councillor Mags MacLaren said: “Since 2021, more than £5 million has been invested in more than 50 play parks and wheeled sports facilities across the region, funded by the council, the Scottish Government, and a small amount of community fundraising.
“This investment in play parks will help provide renewed areas for children to play and is an investment in their future.”
The consultation closes on Sunday, 12th July 2026, and Renfrewshire Council is encouraging parents, carers and local residents to take part before the deadline.
