Renfrew will begin their 2026/27 season on Saturday, 25th July, when they welcome Kilwinning Rangers to New Western Park for the opening match of the Scottish Lowland League West campaign.
It will be Renfrew’s first match in the new league after stepping up to tier five of Scottish football. Kick-off is at 3pm.
Kilwinning Rangers are familiar opponents. The Buffs finished one point ahead of Renfrew last season to earn promotion from the West of Scotland Premier Division. The three meetings between the sides last season, including two league matches and a West of Scotland Cup tie, all ended in 2-1 victories for Kilwinning.
Renfrew are calling on supporters to get behind the team as they begin what the club describes as a historic season.
The club said: “We’d love the people of Renfrew to get right behind us in the historic season in tier 5. The World Cup is over and the real stuff starts this weekend, so please support your local side.”
Renfrew also thanked everyone who has supported the club ahead of the new campaign, including match and match ball sponsors, advertising board partners, player sponsors and season ticket holders.
The club said this will be its most challenging season yet, with away trips to Gretna, Dalbeattie and Newton Stewart increasing travel costs. Renfrew will also compete in the first round of the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup later this season.
Johnstone Burgh, who were also promoted to the Scottish Lowland League West this season, will have to wait another week before beginning their campaign. The league has 17 teams, meaning one club has a free week in each round of fixtures. Burgh have the first scheduled bye of the season.
