Scottish Water has provided an update on its wastewater improvement project in Clarkston, confirming that Moray Drive has temporarily reopened before the next phase of work begins.
The project is intended to reduce the risk of sewer flooding by increasing the capacity of the local wastewater network and providing extra storage during periods of heavy rainfall.
Scottish Water said work on diverting the underground water main has now been completed.
The next phase will involve installing a new wastewater pipeline beneath Moray Drive. However, the work has been delayed due to what Scottish Water described as “circumstances outwith our control”.
As a result, Moray Drive reopened under a temporary give-and-take traffic management system from Tuesday 14th July 2026. The road closure will be reinstated on Monday 10th August 2026 to allow the remaining wastewater improvement works to continue safely. The closure is expected to remain in place until December 2026.
The overall project began in June 2026 and is expected to take around 12 months to complete. It includes the installation of a new wastewater pipeline and the construction of a new storm overflow tank. Roadworks will continue throughout the programme to allow the work to be carried out safely.
