Police Scotland, HMRC, DWP and the Taxi Enforcement departments from East Renfrewshire and Renfrewshire Council’s have carried out a joint vehicle safety operation in Paisley.
The checks on Taxis were carried out on 17th February 2016, specialist road policing officers from the Divisional Road Policing Unit in Paisley facilitated a road safety operation in Wallneuk Road in Paisley focusing on the safety of vehicles, including private hire cars.
Over 132 vehicles and occupants were checked, 27 of which were taxi vehicles.
Three means warrants were executed, four Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme forms were issued, one taxi plate was removed from a vehicle for a tyre tread offence and five delayed taxi prohibition forms were also issued.
Inspector Gillian Gardner, who leads the Divisional Road Policing Group in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde said: “We will continue our work, alongside our partners, to keep drivers, pedestrians and passengers safe on our roads. This was a successful operation which resulted in a number of detections.
“We all have a responsibility to make sure that vehicles are roadworthy. Simple precautions like checking your tyres and lights and driving at appropriate speeds for the prevailing conditions will help keep road users safe. We look forward to facilitating similar operations in the future.”
