Renfrewshire Council may use compulsory purchase powers to acquire eight properties in Johnstone Castle as part of plans to regenerate the area with new homes.
Demolition work has already begun as part of the regeneration of Johnstone Castle, with buildings demolished mostly on Elm Drive and one on Sycamore Avenue.
The council has reached agreements to buy 23 properties, but deals have yet to be agreed with eight homeowners.
Five of the remaining properties are in Cedar Avenue, with one each in Elm Drive, Tower Road and Maple Drive.
If voluntary agreements cannot be reached, Renfrewshire Council may use Compulsory Purchase Orders to acquire the properties.
The council has applied to the Scottish Government for the orders.
A total of 288 flats are being demolished as part of the regeneration plans.
