Tom Arthur, MSP for Renfrewshire South, has welcomed this year’s Scottish Budget, highlighting the significant investment it will offer to public services. This includes increased investment in education and the NHS.
The Budget, which The Tories, Labour and Lib Dems voted against, is committed to an extra £304 million for the NHS, taking health resource spending to a record level of £12.7 billion.
Investment in local Renfrewshire South schools through the pupil attainment fund will also see head teachers receiving funds directly, including £62,400 for St Luke’s High School in Barrhead and £110,400 for Johnstone High School.
Commenting on the budget, Tom said:
“This is real money that will make a real difference to the people of my constituency.
“A frustration shared by many of my constituents, particularly in Lochwinnoch and Howwood, has been a lack of access to super-fast broadband and as part of this budget, I welcome the commitment by the Scottish Government’s investment of over £100 million in digital infrastructure, to provide 100% of premises in Scotland with super-fast broadband by the end of 2021”
“Tories want to cut tax for the most affluent, in expense of our public services.
“This budget is one that promises to deliver for all of Scotland – and I am proud to have supported it”
