Some of the top pipe bands from throughout Scotland and beyond are set to take to the streets of Paisley during a popular annual contest.
The sixth annual Paisley Pipe Band Championships are back on Saturday 18 July between noon and 6pm.
The town centre will reverberate to the sound of pipes and drums, with bands from as far afield as Northumberland, Dunoon and Ayrshire competing alongside local groups from Johnstone and Kilbarchan.
Bands will parade down Paisley High Street, past the final tuning area at Paisley Cross and down to the competition arena in County Square.
There, judges from the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Glasgow and West of Scotland Branch, will run the rule over the bands, with winners to be selected in various categories after the massed bands and presentation of prizes at 5pm.

The chieftain of the event will be Renfrewshire’s Provost Anne Hall, who said: “The Paisley Pipe Band Championship is always a popular family day out.
“The sheer spectacle of seeing and hearing hundreds of pipers and drummers assembled against the backdrop of the historic town centre is always one worth seeing.
“Hosting events like this in the town centre helps bring a big crowd in on a Saturday afternoon, with all the benefits that brings for traders.
“The contest is now well established as a key part of the area’s ever-growing town centres events programme, alongside other favourites such as Sma’ Shot Day and the Christmas Lights Switch-on.
“And having these events year after year is really helping put Renfrewshire on the map as a key destination for visitors as we move towards Paisley’s bid for UK City of Culture in 2021.”
