The proceeds of a music single are to be donated to St Vincent’s Hospice.
Local singer/songwriter Emma Gillespie lost her friend Michele, aged 30, to cancer. Michelle was cared for at St Vincent’s Hospice in 2016.
Emma, who was formerly known as Emma’s imagination, first came to prominence after winning the Sky 1 TV talent contest Must Be the Music. She is set to release ‘The Story Goes On’ next Thursday.
Emma said: “This project is very dear and close to my heart as I lost my friend Michelle last year to Cancer. She was only 30 years old and left behind her 5-year-old son and husband.
“St Vincent’s Hospice provided her with a peaceful sanctuary and so much more during her final months.
Emma says the song is about the never ending dance of life and death and all that’s in between and beyond.
She said: “My hope is that it will bring comfort to others, wherever they are on their journey. St Vincent’s Hospice relies heavily on donations to continue to provide their Services and I aim to raise as much as possible for them with this release.”
Kate Lennon, Chief Executive, St Vincent’s Hospice said: “It was a great privilege for all of us at the hospice to have known and cared for Michelle. What a wonderful gift Emma has shared with us through this song. Our grateful thanks to Emma and Michelle’s family and friends for all the support and generosity they have given to the hospice over the past year.
“It means so much and allows us to continue to care for others who need our support when facing life limiting illnesses.”
